So I'm in East Lansing at Michigan State University.

Yay!

Move-in went smoothly because:
1. Gilchrist has a small population
2. Gilchrist is mostly upperclassmen
3. My roommate was already here
4. Alexis is a complete badass

So that was Wednesday. Alexis and I also spent time with the younger generation of Courtrights. That was interesting. Lots of emotions flying all over the place being misinterpreted.

Thursday I drove Alexis to the Detroit airport for her flight home. We at Six Mile Road and I-275, at this Chinese place. Our check was written in Chinese. How cool is that.

Then I got back to MSU and went to the Honors Convocation, which went smoothly, 'cept they put my two badass accomplishments right next to each other in the PowerPoint presentation about 'Someone in your class. . . '. Harrumph.

Then was the first pep rally at Spartan Stadium. Moderately boring to dull. But--then it rained.

Basically everyone left, and as we did so it really opened up, then came the hail, then came the football in Landon Field. I acquired the nickname 'Slips', which is actually short for 'Slippery Guy', because as a rusher I was very good at getting past the blockers, due to my sweaty and muddy condition.

Today I had an interview with Dr. Brian Keller, with whom I will have my PAship when school starts. We'll be working on the Core-Plus Mathematics Curriculum, which is used in its current incarnation by 600,000 children. Cutting edge shit. I think he's going to teach me Java so I can program Web applets to help kids with visualising concepts. I'm excited about that. Dr. Keller seems pretty cool.

I do miss everyone, though. Particularly Brittney.

And I miss Las Asusenas.

Hello from sunny Cleveland, Ohio!

'Cept I'm actually in Shaker Heights, and it's not sunny because it's one o'clock.

It's not ever really that sunny anyway.

We got into town this afternoon around 16. After driving many miles. Arkansas sucks, Kentucky's pretty but easy to get lost in, 18-wheelers have 18 wheels for a very good reason (and it's not to lift them up to show them off), and--according to my sister--it's against the rules to drive on I-71 with a nosebleed.

Also, it's a bad idea to say 'pee-pee potty' anywhere in the vicinity of a two-year-old. Trust me on that one.

I had a lovely dinner conversation with the Rinderknechts. Tonight was Jakob's last night in Shaker, so he fixed a lovely dinner. Jakob is the sort of fellow that I at once am drawn to become and fear becoming. He's erudite, clever, and sometimes appears to have the gift of sophistry. But he's definitely sincere about it. I donno. He's cool.

It's kind of surreal to return to one's childhood haunts. Hans and I rocked it to the mic of Shaker (i.e. we chilled out at the Rinderknecht residence playing with Baroque instruments) for most of the rest of the evening. Tomorrow maybe I'll hook up with Eddie Ceaser or Ed Cormany.

Good ol' Shaker, how sometimes I miss thee, and other times am glad for having missed thee.

Other news: N/A
