Shoot!

I have failed to mention this:

All That Jazz Festival
The Cove, 606 W. Cypress (near SAC, I think)
6 or 7 PM (My set starts at 8.)
$3

It'll be rockin'. Proceeds benefit NESA. Come.

I'm being invaded.

A population of the family Formicidae is attempting to use my shower as a water supply.

It's been going on for about a week now. Every morning I turn on the faucet and ants tumble out, running for their cute little formicid lives.

Formic acid is named for those buggers. It's the acid that makes antbites sting. HCOOH. Also called methanoic acid, a name not derived from formica.

Good news: I won one of the Phi Beta Kappa San Antonio Chapter's scholarships. That's $1000 more in my bank account.

I also got a gold medal on the NLE, which is cool, because I thought I'd done dirtybad on it (see below, sometime in mid-March). That means I'm eligible for the NLE Scholarship. So I'll have to fill out that application and whatnot.

Observation: Cooper knows everyone at Jim's. EVERYONE.

Jenny gave me another shirt today.

It's a dress-style shirt, with front buttons and bloused shoulders and sleeves. It's a little small on me. The sleeves come up to about halfway on my forearm (I wear them rolled), and the shoulders are pretty tight. But the chest is nice and loose.

So I wear this over my black Einstein t-shirt (from the 1987 NEISD Thinkathon that I got from my sister, who got it from my cousin Kelly, the one with the hole in the front) to the meeting I had tonight at EZ's (281 and Bitters) to work on the script for FireStarters. I go to order, just a drink, because I already ate (with Brittney), and the guy thinks I'm homeless. Heh. So my drink was on the house as charity, which was cool.

Heh.

So it turns out my director is really really cool. Top in his high school class, went to music school, found out he didn't like it, was homeless for a year and pulled a 3.5 anyway, went to Europe, was robbed by Russian customs agents, sneaked into a theatre where he saw 42nd Street, sneaked backstage, and got a $1000/week job touring Europe with them. Has been in the theatre ever since.

He's a great guy!

Anyhoo, I have physics and calculus homework, and millions of rewrites on Freedom of Conscience left, so if you'll excuse me. . .

It seems like a mighty long time. . .

So I got a nosebleed in Writing today. That was kind of badness. It dribbled on my (white dress) shirt.

But this was useful. I convinced first Kathleen, then Andy, Ari, and Jon, that I had been in a knife fight and the blood was from the other guy. Told them I had shanked him. Described the shank: a metal plate bracket, sharpened, with a rag and some duct tape for a handle.

Told the same story to my mom. She believed me. Then my dad and I made fun of her, leading into a discussion of shaving one's toes and including:
'Shank, shank, shank. . . shank, shank, shank. . . shank, shank, shank. . . shank a fool.'

So, what has happened in the time since I last posted?

Mostly just the usual. Played a LAN of AOE II: The Conquerors with Sunil and Ben Kinneman. Ben is cool, much cooler than I'd suspected. We had a conversation about, of all things, Aethelred II Unraed. Not only that, it was about the linguistic and cultural reasons behind the various translations of 'Unraed' (Unready, Clueless, Dumbass--I prefer Dumbass).

*thinks real hard*

I've been trying to write, really I have. But it's been spotty so far, and I'm feeling kind of--apoetic? Freedom of Conscience has been coming along, though.

Went to the NEISD board meeting to be recognised for being National Merit Finalist. That was cool. Saw Monica again for like the third time in a month, after not seeing her for three years. Strangeness.

I'd like to post clever things in my 'blog, but it seems I'm fresh out.

And apparently I'm April's 'wonderful father'.
